The Short Version
One box for generation, storage and the grid.
A hybrid inverter decides, moment to moment, whether to run the load from the array, the battery or the grid — and which of them to charge from. These two will also run with no battery fitted at all, which lets a site take the solar saving now and add storage later without changing the inverter.

Do I have to fit a battery?
No. These units are specified to work without one, which is unusual and useful — you get the daytime solar saving immediately and can add storage later.
Which battery should I pair it with?
24 V for the DUS3624HF and 48 V for the DUS6248HFP. Lead-acid or lithium; lithium packs communicate over the BMS card.
Can I put two together?
The DUS6248HFP parallels up to nine units. The DUS3624HF does not support parallel operation.
How fast does it switch?
10 ms for computer equipment and 20 ms for household equipment.
