Approved List of Models and Manufacturers
Enlistment of specific module models against a verified factory inspection and production capacity audit by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Enlistment is model-specific: a rating that is not on the list is not covered by the listing, even if it comes off the same line.
Why It Matters
For government, PSU and most subsidised projects an ALMM-enlisted module is a condition of eligibility, not a preference. It is usually the first line a tender evaluator checks, and a bid using a non-enlisted model is rejected before the commercial envelope is opened.

Crystalline silicon terrestrial PV modules
Mandatory Indian registration for PV modules.
The Indian adoption of IEC 61215. Registration under the BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme, granted against testing at a BIS-recognised laboratory and tied to a specific manufacturing location.
Design qualification and type approval
Does the module design survive 25 years outdoors?
Thermal cycling, humidity freeze, damp heat, mechanical load, hail impact, wet leakage and hot-spot endurance on sample modules, with a defined limit on power degradation after each sequence.
PV module safety qualification
Electrical, fire and mechanical safety.
Construction requirements (Part 1) and testing (Part 2) for electric shock hazard, fire propagation and mechanical failure, including the system voltage the module is rated to operate at.
Quality Management System
The process itself, audited.
That the manufacturing process is documented, measured, internally audited and corrected — and that it stays that way between surveillance audits, rather than being reconstructed the week before one.
Safety of power converters for PV systems
Inverter electrical and fire safety.
General safety requirements (Part 1) and the particular requirements for inverters (Part 2): isolation, protective earthing, thermal limits, enclosure protection and single-fault behaviour. IS 16221 is the Indian adoption.
Islanding prevention for grid-tied inverters
The inverter disconnects when the grid goes down.
The test procedure for anti-islanding: the inverter must stop exporting within a defined window when the utility supply fails, so it cannot back-feed a line that a lineman believes is dead.
European Conformity
Declaration against applicable EU directives.
A manufacturer's declaration of conformity supported by test evidence against the Low Voltage and EMC directives, with a technical file retained for inspection.
Restriction of Hazardous Substances
Restricted substances in the bill of materials.
Limits on lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and specified flame retardants across the components that make up the finished product, evidenced by supplier declarations and material testing.
Stationary lead-acid batteries, tubular positive plates
Capacity, endurance and construction for tubular cells.
Rated capacity at the declared discharge rate, endurance in cycles, charge retention and the construction requirements specific to tubular positive plates.
Solar water pumping systems
The technical specification pumps are supplied against.
Motor and controller ratings, minimum daily water output at a stated head and insolation, protection features and the test protocol used to confirm them.
Cable insulation and voltage rating
Conductor, insulation and rated voltage.
IS 694 for PVC-insulated cables up to 1100 V on the AC side; EN 50618 for cross-linked DC cable rated for the temperature, UV exposure and 25-year service life expected on an array.
Self-ballasted LED lamps
Performance and safety for LED lamps.
Luminous flux and efficacy, colour characteristics, endurance and the safety requirements for self-ballasted LED lamps, under BIS compulsory registration.
Electroluminescence record
Per-module image, before and after lamination.
An electroluminescence image of every module produced, taken before lamination and again after, revealing micro-cracks, broken fingers and inactive cell areas that are invisible to the eye.
Measured I-V performance
The actual measured output of your modules.
A simulator flash at standard test conditions recording Pmax, Voc, Isc, Vmp, Imp and fill factor for every module, with the sorting bin it fell into.
Pre-despatch electrical test
Every unit, before it leaves the building.
Insulation resistance, high-voltage withstand, functional and protection checks carried out on each unit before packing, recorded against its serial number.
No certificates in that category.
What A Certificate Does Not Say
IEC 61215 is a type approval: a handful of sample modules are put through thermal cycling, damp heat and mechanical load, and the design passes or it does not. It is essential, and it is evidence about a design tested years ago — not about the modules on your delivery note.
That gap is closed on the line, not on a certificate. Every module is electroluminescence imaged before and after lamination and flash tested at standard test conditions, and both records are kept against the serial number. We issue them on request, including for modules already installed.
